A very compact strobe head at just 4"/100mm in diameter & 4"/100mm in length.
The Z240 has very special circuitry called S-TTL where it actually does meter off the cameras CCD/CMOS chip, giving you accurate TTL flash technology for true auto point and shoot TTL photos. This new technology is exclusive to Inon and is patent pending.
TTL with flash exposure compensation - all built in at no extra add on cost for this great technology.
13 manual power settings in 1/2EV steps, plus you also get the diffuser, giving you even more 'output' control.
Nikon 5 pin style socket fitted to the lower back of the head allowing this strobe to be used with SLR housings, Nikonos cameras and the like.
Sealed battery compartment, with internal gold plated battey contacts in the bottom of the battery chamber.
5W CREE LED focusing assist/aiming light - awesome new technology, incredibly bright 'white light' and amazing distance is achieved with this new 5W LED that is being used with the Z240 'type 4' strobes.

All controls are on the back of the head, not on top or any other stupid position. This practical features means that changing or checking your settings is simple and fast.
Can be used without fibre optic cable due to technical advancement in the flash sensor technology with most 40m compact digital housings. Inon has informed us that the TTL flash sensor in the new Z240 'type 4' is 100X more sensitive than their previous strobes. The Inon wireless connection kit is optional with the Z240. So you have a choice between cable and no cable shooting, as the strobe can still of course accept their fibre optic cables.
Guide number of 24 metres on land, so around 13 metres underwater.
Angle of coverage is 100 degrees x 100 degrees without diffuser fitted. Gives a circular beam and covers essentially all ultra wide angle lenses.
Using the -0.5 diffuser gives you 110 degrees x 110 degrees of coverage, also still with a circular beam.
Colour temp: 5500K at full power with no diffuser and 5400K with diffuser fitted.
Uses 4 AA batteries and they MUST BE the new Hahnel SYNERGY or Sanyo ENELOOP brand NiMH batteries. They remain much cooler in use whereas the latest 2700 mAh NiMH get very hot in use and this concerns us.
Recycle time with 'AA' 2100 mAh NiMH = approx 1.5 seconds at FULL power.
Sea Optics standard items include: Z240 strobe head, -0.5 diffuser, spare o ring, o ring grease, English manual.
Optional items include: Hahnel Synergy 12v car/110-240v world charging kit inc 4 x AA NiMH batteries, Inon optic fibre sync cable kits to suit your specific Canon, Panasonic, Olympus, Fuji or Sony 40m housing (kit includes the cable, clear photo film and other specific items to ensure that the cable will work brilliantly with your housing), Inon wireless connection kit, -1.5 & -3.0 diffusers, Inon Z adaptor for use with Inon & Ultra Light clamps and the very cost effective Inon D4 alloy tray/arm, single/spare fibre optic cable, traditional TTL-N single electrical flash cable.

A truly brilliant flash system that is in fact 'wireless' and completely water tight that has no 'connection' with the camera at all, very reliable, very simple.
SUBAL SLR HOUSINGS: Sea Optics exclusive using Carey's outstanding fibre optic modification to select Subal housings. No holes are drilled and 1 or 2 windows can be fitted, plus the whole process is easily reversed, if required: TTL auto exposure technology, S-TTL with flash exposure compensation and 13 manual power steps. Requires specific Inon fibre optic cable. We have very successfully now set up many Inon strobes to suit a variety of Subal housings.
OTHER SLR HOUSINGS: 13 manual power steps. Requires Sea & Sea TTL-N single cable. Second strobe is either a 2nd single TTL-N cable, (if housing has a second flash socket fitted), dual TTL-N cable or wirelessly.
35mm FILM SLR HOUSINGS & NIKONOS: With Nikonos 5 pin socket. The usual Nikon TTL and 13 manual power steps. Requires Sea & Sea TTL-N single cable. Second strobe is either a 2nd single TTL-N cable, (if housing has a second flash socket fitted), dual TTL-N cable or wirelessly.
40m COMPACT DIGITAL HOUSINGS: S-TTL auto exposure technology, S-TTL with flash exposure compensation and 13 manual power steps. Requires specific Inon fibre optic cable kit to suit your housing OR with 'Type 4' version can be used wirelessly with NO cable at all with many 40m housings. See below for your housings model and cable part #.
PATIMA COMPACT DIGITAL HOUSINGS: S-TTL auto exposure technology, S-TTL with flash exposure compensation and 13 manual power steps. Requires specific Inon fibre optic cable. We have very successfully now set up many Inon strobes to suit the Patima housings for Canon Powershot G9, G10 & G11, so long as your housing has a window area for the internal flash, then chances are we can fit an Inon strobe to it.
IKELITE COMPACT DIGITAL HOUSINGS: S-TTL auto exposure technology, S-TTL with flash exposure compensation and 13 manual power steps. Requires specific Inon fibre optic cable. We have very successfully now set up many Inon strobes to suit a large variety of compact digital Ikelite housings, so long as your housing has a window area for the internal flash, then chances are we can fit an Inon strobe to it.
