  • The new Z240 is an amazing strobe and refreshingly different in it's design. It is incredibly compact, but has a similar power output to, (and even more so in some cases), strobes of around twice it's length. It also has a superb new 3W LED focusing assist/aiming light, revolutionary S-TTL system, has a huge amount of control over the manual output (critical for digital cameras), plus has the traditional Nikonos 5 pin socket fitted to the strobe for use with SLR housings and has the controls located on the back of the head. It is incredibly accurate when left in TTL and we are finding this with both macro and wide angle shooting. Really impressive. Basically it is best explained as a D2000 with a 5 pin socket fitted and has more power/ouput available at full power

  • General specs and features are as follows:
  • A very, very compact strobe head at just 4"/100mm in diameter & 4"/100mm in length.
  • Incredibly well priced.
  • The Z240 has very special circuitry called S-TTL where it actually does meter off the cameras CCD/CMOS chip, giving you accurate TTL flash technology for true auto point and shoot TTL photos. This new technology is exclusive to Inon and is patent pending.
  • Nikon 5 pin style socket fitted to the lower back of the head allowing this strobe to be used with SLR housings, Nikonos cameras and the like.
  • TTL with flash exposure compensation - all built in at no extra add on cost for this great technology.
  • Sealed battery compartment, with internal gold plated battey contacts in the bottom of the battery chamber.
  • Ready light.
  • 13 manual power settings in 1/2EV steps, plus you also get the 2 diffusers, giving you even more 'output' control.
  • All controls are on the back of the head, not on top or any other stupid position. This practical features means that changing or checking your settings is simple and fast.
  • Guide number of 24 metres on land, so around 12 metres underwater.
  • Angle of coverage is 100 degrees x 100 degrees without diffuser fitted. Gives a circular beam and covers essentially all ultra wide angle lenses.
  • Using the standard -0.5 or -1.5 diffusers gives you 110 degrees x 110 degrees of coverage, also still with a circular beam.
  • Colour temp: 5500K at full power with no diffuser and 5400K with diffuser fitted.
  • Uses 4 AA batteries and they MUST BE the new Powerbase INSTANT or Sanyo ENELOOP brand NiMH batteries. They remain cool in use whereas the latest 2500 - 2700 mAh NiMH are getting very hot in real use and may damage your strobe, so they are NOT to be used. The Powerbase INSTANT kit is provided FREE of charge by Sea Optics with each Z240 for you and if needed a spare 4 pack of batteries are also available at a price of around $20 inc GST. The included charging kit comes with 4 x AA batteries & is a 12/110/240v world/car charging system, plus what is really impressive is that once charged they are able to hold 80% of charge after 6 months, unlike normal NiMH batteries. Great technology and a very real step forward.

- STROBE ARMS AND TRAYS -

  • Ultra Light. Machined aluminium construction, light weight, very strong, completely adaptable for essentially anything, all pieces sold individually. Very popular. We can also just supply you with the Inon D2000S/D2000/Z240 Z adaptor if you already own an Ultra Light arm or quote on an entire arm set up. Please note that the Inon adaptor is the same diameter to Ultra Light and therefore 100% compatible. The optional Inon AD or M67 double lens holders can also be fitted to the middle of the Ultra Light double ball/middle arm very successfully.
  • Inon. Inon also have available an excellent all-in-1 arm/tray unit, called Grip Base. They are a single bent piece machined aluminium, fully black anodised and accept 1 x D2000s, D2000 or Z240. They can be attached to any of the Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Fuji & Sony digital housings and work pretty well. They also accept the mounting of the optional Inon AD or M67 dual lens holders. In stock and available for immediate delivery with your strobe order.

Inon Grip Base all-in-1 arm/tray aluminium unit (as pictured above) in it's basic form. The pictures below is what can easily be achieved once some further optional items are added and in the process gives you an enormous amount of movement & control over your Inon strobe. All these pictures also show a Inon AD lens holder, Inon lenses (UWL105AD wide angle fitted to the housing & a UCL165AD macro lens fitted to the lens holder) and a complete Inon strobe set up that turn these basic camera/housing units into 'underwater systems'.
