These new 'hybrid' video cameras from Sony are just brilliant machines and are very usable technology. First up, you can record directly to the cameras HDD 'hard disk drive', secondly, you can record directly to the removable Memory Stick PRO DUO card and last of all is where you can internally move your video footage and photos from the HDD to the Memory Stick PRO DUO card. Please note that the Memory Stick PRO DUO cards are optional and are currently available up to 8GB in size, with even larger sizes to follow. Great technology, very flexible and very easy.

They are switchable and can shoot just like any normal DV video camera, shooting at some 520 lines of resolution and are not just HD/1080i video cameras, it links the standard 520 line of DV/SD digital resolution to HD superbly and do not be scared off because it is 'high def', it is BOTH, not just HD. The other bonus is that they use just normal everday $6 mini DV tapes, so is absolutely backward compatible in both recording and playback features. Last thing, you DO NOT require a HD TV to view your footage with these things, any old TV is fine.
